Don't Sacrifice Recovery: Ways to Use Protein Powder

Protein powder can be used as a mixer in up to 13 different types of food as an item you wouldn't always think of.

You can include protein in your favorite smoothies, including but not limited to strawberry banana and chocolate peanut butter. Protein is also an excellent companion in most recipes that require baking or cooking methods such as bread and cakes.

If you find yourself with extra protein powder once the bag is finished, it's safe to use any recipe that requires eggs or milk when preparing muffins or pancakes. You can also add some water and make a healthy option for instant oatmeal by adding whey-based ingredients like protein powder or casein into the mix instead of flour.

Protein powder is also easy to integrate into various beverages that can be made with only a few ingredients. For example, you can make an egg-free protein shake mix by combining one cup of vanilla ice cream, 1 1/2 cups of non-fat milk, 2 tablespoons of water and two scoops of pure whey protein powder in a blender for about 20 seconds. Add fresh fruit if desired and enjoy.

All it takes to use protein powder as a substitute for flour is some water and an extra scoop or two depending on the recipe's requirements.

If you're in the mood for baking but you don't want the hassle, consider using a chocolate protein bar instead of making a cake from scratch.
